1953 Chevrolet 3100 Pickup. Desirable short bed 1/2 ton model. Correctly restored over 30 years ago in original “Mariner Blue.” Very correct restoration but has some patina from age. The body is very solid and rust free with the exception of a small hole in the front of both rockers. You can only see them on a lift from underneath. The fitment of doors, fenders, and hood are very good with even gaps. The doors open and close great thanks to new latches. The Mariner Blue paint shines nice and is driver quality showing numerous chips here and there from use. There is also a stain from gas fill ups below the cap. The wood bed was replaced and is in very solid shape but the finish has worn off in areas and would need to be sanded and refinished to be show quality. Custom removeable wood top rails are in same condition.
The interior is in good shape showing only minor wear. It was refinished years ago in correct materials. All gauges work with exception of the speedo which does in fact work but it makes a little noise. (possibly needs cable lubed or replaced) Radio does not work. The wipers were upgraded from vacuum type to electric. The radio does not work.
Mechanically the truck is in excellent shape and is a pleasure to drive. The top end was recently overhauled and the engine was resealed. The brakes were rebuilt and the truck stops great with no pulling. Shifts through the 3 speed manual transmission beautifully. Starts right up with ease and idles right away even from a cold start. The tires are radial type whitewalls. Additional era accessories include a visor, heater, and spotlight.
Great old truck that drives great with some very pleasing patina from use. This a driver Quality truck that you can get in and enjoy reliably, not a trailer queen you would be scared to get a chip in the paint or a ding in the bed. Ready to enjoy!
