1946 Mercury Coupe built from the ground up with comfort, increased drivability, and performance in mind.
Show quality paint and body in Tuxedo Black. Fully sanded and buffed to a mirror finish with very good fit and straight panels. All chrome and stainless brightwork were refinished. All glass was replaced along with the weatherstripping when restored. Windshield is custom made with a “V-Butt” center instead o the factory chrome separator piece installed. Decklid has the license plate frenched in.
Powered by a small block Ford and C4 automatic transmission built just 4 years ago with only 350 miles since completed. The 302 ford was stroked to 347 cu in with SCAT Forged stroker crank and rotating assembly. Topped with a 650 Holley carb, Edelbrock intake, and MSD electronic ignition. Serpentine belt drive runs the vintage air and power steering. Heavy duty aluminum radiator and thermostat controlled fan keep it cool.
The chassis was modified with a Volare independent front suspension with adjustable torsion bars. Power rack and pinion steering. The rear suspension was upgraded to a parallel leaf and ford 9” differential. All 4 corners have power disc brakes.
Interior was fully insulated and sound deadened before the custom Ultra leather interior was installed. Front seat is fully adjustable from “Glide.” Tilt column and 3 spoke wheel. Autometer gauges with white dials fill the custom smoothed dashboard. Interior comfort includes a custom stereo and Vintage Air AC and heat. Seat belts were added for safety.
This 1946 mercury is rarely seen in a sea of Ford Coupes. A great driving and comfortable street rod ready to show and go!
